The Best Time to Call a Realtor Is Before You Think You Need One

Most real estate transactions start the same way. A phone call out of the blue. The kids need to be registered at a new school by August. A job change just moved the timeline up six months. A family situation nobody saw coming. And now everything that could have been handled calmly over several months has to happen in about six weeks.

It is a three legged sack race with a shotgun start. And it did not have to be.

I cannot count the number of times a client has told me they were going to call me next week. That was four months ago. Now they are stressed, rushed, and making decisions they would have made differently if they had just picked up the phone when they first started thinking about it.

There is no such thing as too early to talk to a Realtor. There is only too late.

What an early conversation actually looks like

It is not a listing appointment. It is not a commitment. It is just a conversation.

We talk about your home, what it needs and what it does not, what the market looks like for a property like yours, and what a realistic timeline and number might look like. You walk away with a clearer picture than you had before. That is it.

No pressure. No pitch. Nothing to sign.

And then when life does what life does and suddenly you need to move faster than you planned, you already have a plan. You already know your number. You already know what needs to happen and in what order. The sack race still happens but at least you have had time to warm up.

The other thing a good Realtor brings

If you find the right one you will not mind having them in your life even when you are not buying or selling. The good ones are connected. They know the contractors who actually show up, the inspectors who tell you the truth, the lenders who close on time. They have seen enough transactions to know who is worth calling and who is not.

Over twelve years in Fort Wayne my clients have become something closer to family. That does not happen when you treat every transaction like a number to close. It happens when you show up for people the way you would want someone to show up for you.

Nothing is too broken to fix. Nothing is too complicated to plan around.

Whatever your situation is, the sooner we talk about it the more options you have. Proper planning prevents a very stressful, very expensive, very avoidable mess.

Call me before you think you need to. You will be glad you did.
